Why did Wicak Prasetiadi, with over 20 years ofexperience in Indonesia’s pharmaceutical industry, choose to begin the secondchapter of his career with Daewoong?

Meet the man who made a bold decision after witnessingDaewoong’s 20-year journey of shared growth with Indonesia’s pharma and biotech sectors—an experience that deeply resonated with his own career path.

Discover why he chose to walk this path together with Daewoong.

Q1. Hello, Mr. Wicak! Please introduce yourself.

Hello, my name is Wicak Prasetiadi.

I have over 20 years of experience in Indonesia’s pharmaceutical industry, leading product launches and marketing strategies across various therapeutic areas such as infertility, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes.

Most recently, I served as Marketing Manager at Ferring Pharmaceuticals Indonesia, where I led the localization of global strategies and spearheaded business development and KOL (Key Opinion Leader)engagement in the field of obstetrics and gynecology.

Prior to that, I held leadership roles in marketing and medical affairs at major multinational pharmaceutical companies including AstraZeneca, MSD, Merck, GSK, Schering-Plough, and Roche, successfully bringing a wide range of treatments—vaccines included—into the Indonesian market.

Currently, I serve as Brand & Marketing Manager at Daewoong Pharmaceutical Indonesia, where I aim to enhance both organizational and healthcare ecosystem value through strategic market insights.

Q2. What led you to join Daewoong?

Having worked at various global pharmaceutical companies, I started to feel the limitations of product-centric marketing. While these were excellent medicines, I began to question whether importing them for Indonesian patients was truly the best way to support our local pharmaceutical and biotech industry.

In contrast, Daewoong’s genuine, locally focused investment deeply impressed me. Rather than just selling products, Daewoong is committed to full-spectrum shared growth with Indonesia—including R&D, local production, clinical research, and talent development.

The philosophy of creating “medicines proven in Indonesia,” rather than simply “medicines proven overseas,” struck me as the real beginning of meaningful localization—something that truly benefits both patients and the national industry.

Among Daewoong’s 20-year journey, three specific efforts left a lasting impact on me. These clearly reflected Daewoong’s sincere desire to be a true growth partner for Indonesia’s pharmaceutical and biotech sector, and were the driving forces behind my decision to join.

First, Daewoong’s co-establishment of research institutes with UI, ITB, and IPB to nurture top-tier talent and build a truly local R&D ecosystem.

Secondly, about a decade ago, Daewoong established Indonesia's first biopharmaceuticalmanufacturing plant, and recently, it has further expanded its local productionbase by building stem cell manufacturing facilities.

Finally,Daewoong contributes to strengthening clinical capabilities by conductingclinical trials led by local researchers.

I believe this genuine approach demonstrates Daewoong's commitment to Indonesia not merely as a market for selling drugs, but as a partner in co-designing the advancement of local healthcare. It was this philosophy that inspired me to join Daewoong.

Q3. What corporate culture at Daewoong has impressed you the most?

It's a culture where opportunities are granted based on competency, regardless of age, tenure, gender, or nationality. Thanks to this, I've had the chance to participate in diverse projects beyond brand marketing, including business development, organizational strategy, and clinical collaboration. Through this process, I feel that I'm growing significantly.

A corporate culture that views employee growth as company growth will truly demonstrate its value, especially in the rapidly changing pharmaceutical industry. I was particularly impressed by the system that supports employees' open-mindedness and willingness to learn new knowledge through unlimited learning support and monthly feedback. As a manager, the monthly feedback system allows me to review my team members' growth and provide feedback on the process of achieving their desired growth, not just their results, which is incredibly meaningful.

Q4. What kind of leadership do you aspire to pursue at Daewoong?

I aim for a "Triple Win" (Win-Win-Win) that goes beyond a simple "Win-Win." This means:

①   Growth for myself and my team

②   Increased value for our partners (doctors, pharmacists, hospitals)

③   Ultimately, an improved quality of life for society and patients

I believe that true, sustainable healthcare leadership is achieved when these three elements are in balance.

We don't just pursue success for individuals or the company. We believe true victory comes when our partners—such as doctors, pharmacies, and hospitals—grow alongside us, and ultimately, when we contribute to our mission of improving the health of patients and society. This philosophy is my primary guiding principle when communicating with my team members and making decisions, and it forms the foundation for achieving excellent results in these three areas.

Q5. What are your future goals or plans?

Beyond simply growing the brand and increasing market share, I want to contribute to Daewoong becoming a "trusted healthcare partner" for the people of Indonesia. My goal is to build a strong team and a sustainable foundation. To achieve this, I plan to take the lead in continuing Daewoong's existing efforts in collaborative research, local production, talent development, and social contribution in diverse ways.

Additionally, to enhance my personal capabilities, I am working towards strengthening my expertise in medical and clinical strategy, expanding global collaborations, and acquiring professional certifications. Through the CDP (Career Development Program) and the unlimited learning support system, I want to enhance my individual capabilities to help my team members go further.
